The Buffalo Stand Down would not be the success it is, if it weren’t for our incredible team of volunteers! Over 200 volunteers are needed to to make this one-day cornerstone event, an experience to remember, in the lives of WNY Veterans.

Due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus, the 2020 Buffalo Stand Down will be POSTPONED. Alternative dates are being evaluated. Check back for updates.

We have volunteer positions ranging from assisting with veteran registration, to helping in the distribution of giveaways, to assisting veterans in navigating their way through the hundreds of service provider displays, to serving a hot meal to the over 1,000 veterans we expect to pass through our door this year. The list of duties is long and there’s a place for everyone who would like to volunteer.

Volunteers must be responsible adults who appreciate our veterans and the service they have given our country. We ask that once committed, all volunteers be punctual to the time they have chosen to volunteer, that they come willing to serve with a smile and be flexible throughout their time serving our vets.

FREE parking for volunteers is provided in the Illinois St. parking ramp attached to the arena. All volunteers will receive a Buffalo Stand Down Volunteer t-shirt upon check-in on the day of the event. This shirt is to be worn the entire time you are volunteering and is considered to be your uniform for the day, along with a name tag lanyard which will be provided to you.

Our online volunteer registration portal is effective in clearly explaining the various roles available and the time slots required. Many people sign up to volunteer for the entire day and select multiple time slots. (Just make sure not to commit yourself to more than one job at the same time. No one can be two places at once.)

If you are a leader of a group you can also register your entire group to volunteer. Just be sure to indicate how many are volunteering for each job/time slot and PLEASE don’t forget to include ALL names of those volunteering.

Once you have completed your volunteer registration, you will receive an email confirmation of your commitment. You may also receive subsequent emails informing you of important details as the Stand Down event approaches, so make sure to check your email regularly!
